Canada's Immigration & Refugee System:
What's wrong and how to fix it

MV Sun Sea sits empty in Esquimault Harbour, BC.

"CANADA'S Ministry of Citizenship and Immigration is arguably the most broken of all federal government departments. For years, its policies have been incoherent, inconsistent and grossly out of touch with Canada's needs. Canada has no comprehensive immigration policy. Instead, we have a patchwork of policies that have been developed in isolation from one another, each intended to address a specific issue, but none of which were designed to be part of a coherent whole.

"Our refugee system is in even worse shape..."

James Bissett, Distinguished Fellow at the Canadian Centre for Policy Studies and former Director-General of Immigration Services for Canada.

Join policy experts and concerned citizens from across the country in Ottawa October 30 as we probe what's wrong with Canada's immigration and refugee system and discuss what must be done to fix it.
